Personal background
I'm just a simple guy with an interest in SETI and it's mission. I am a P.E. with a Mechanical Engineering background.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
As an engineer, i can not discount the mathimatical possibility that ET exists. But we will never know in our lifetime due to the same mathimatical odds. We will be very lucky if and when we do find life. I would rather take my ods to vegas. But I still have an interest in the efforts.

If life is discovered, the community as a whole on Earth will pull together like never before. It will send new fears through everyone and especially the religious community. I do not think that this will or will not discount any religious view. But others in the religious community can not seem to seperate these facts and ideals.

I run SETI at home because I enjoy the science.
