| Personal background |
I'm a Freshman at San Jose State University in California. I've been around computers and building computers since I was 8, but I'm rather new to SETI@Home and BOINC. I just built a pretty high end gaming rig, but between school, work, music, and other activities I don't have an awful lot of time to game anymore. So I figured I could donate some computing power towards finding ETs! So that is why I'm here, to add my computer to SETI@home's network of data-crunchers looking for little green men.
In my free time I like to make and record my own music, practice photography, and, of course, occasionally play games. I play a bunch of different games, but mostly FPSs and RPGs (Battlefield 3 and Skyrim being the two main ones right now). My Steam ID is GuitarHead, feel free to add me if your looking to play some games. |
| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
| I run SETI@Home because I'm simply fascinated by space and ETs. The gigantic question marks that loom around those two subjects are like magnets - they draw me in. I want to learn more but eventually everyone hits a wall, and beyond that wall is speculation, theories, and non-science. Since I don't have time to lurk the dark corners of the internet and read forums about ETs and space, I decided that donating computing power to SETI would be the best way to promote the search for ETs in a proper, scientific way. Speculating non-science and theories is pointless when one can instead do something that actually might bring you a little closer to finding what you want. And for me, that something is crunching numbers for SETI. |
