G'day Guys and Gals,
As a 45year old (and a member of the class of '84 - "B" Horror movie), with a liking for the logic of Programming, I remember starting out at Uni on a Vax 72 Mainframe, linked around the world with only text communications. As a founding member of the HLF (see "Life of Brian" - Hackers Liberation Front), I had too much fun at Griffith Uni and was forced into the Workforce before completing their radical "Business based Computing Degree". Ever since, I have kept my eye on computers.
I am an Aussie, born and bred. I started school in Papua New Guinee when it was an Australian Territory and returned to Dad's home town at the age of 10 when they got their Independence in 1976. Since then, Lismore, northern NSW (2.5hrs south of Brisbane) has been 'Home' for me. (anyone know Adrian Mahar? he's a local that Dad hit a homer off to help win our Grand final).
I am SF and Fantasy Fiction reader, and have the 425th set of a "Lord of the Rings" Chess set that I got in 1987 for my 21st. I didn't read Carl Sagon's "Contact" untill after seeing the Movie, and though it is a good read, I like Jodie Foster and the Movie better. |

1. Why do I run SETI@home?

My answer to both questions are more eloquently and beautifully expressed in the Movie "Contact". (Starring Jodie Foster, Concept from Carl Sagon's book "Contact").
I did attempt too help with SETI@home Classic 'back in the day' and am greatful for the current opportunity to do a better job 'from my end' now.
3. Any suggestions?
Just a question, has anyone published a paper showing the results this "Radio Signal Analysis" would produce when it is applied to the "best-guess" actual Sol transmission recording overlaid/combined with an actual 'Earth based' (EB) recorded transmission; or combined with multipule EB transmissions - differing frequencies - and if it actually occures, different EB transmissions overlaying eachother?
If such a scientific publication exists, please let me know.
If not, I would be happy too help explain this concept in more accurate detail to refine the experiment (I DIS-CLAIM any rights; interlectual, scientific or 'copy-rights'; All rights DIS-claimed, nul and void). |
