Personal background
I'm a mid-60's (read: "aging boomer") family man.
My passionate interests are:
- all physical sciences
- music (I've been composing for about 50 years now).
- travel (pretty much every continent except Asia and Antarctica)
- history, archaeology, anthropology, languages.
- artificial intelligence

I'm in I.T. but only because I let people talk me out of archaeology as a career.

I am a theist, a liberal thinker and avid reader of nonfiction (most recent: The Short American Century, and The Post American World).

I try and scan several online, foreign newspapers each week.
I have never been able to explain my crackpot idea for 'forbidden-line' optical SETI to anyone.

I'm excited about getting into SETI@HOME.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I have some training (many years ago) in radio communication; I've always been interested in radio astronomy and feel that moss isn't going to grow on only one rock in the woods.

2. I think it's a terrific endeavor, especially for humans.

3. Ask me about my crackpot idea for 'forbidden-line' optical SETI. Go ahead. C'mon. Just ask :)
