Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do feel extraterrestrial life exists. I think we will discover it very soon, when they let us. I think we have already been discovered by others.
The benefits of such a discovery would be more knowledge of deep space and all that it has to offer and the means to travel in it. And hopefully a better way of life for all.
The dangers could be inviting someone to visit that isn't very friendly, because I feel that any one who has developed the ability to travel great distances in space or the ability to hide them self's from us for so long, would most likely be able to do a lot of damage to us earthlings. Mass confusion and chaos by those who feel we are the only life forms that exist.
We should be transmitting signals into space to try and make contact with others that are out there. The type of signal's that should be transmitted should be some of our discoveries of other galaxies, some of our more positive history records, and what knowledge we have of space travel, and requesting help in teaching us more.
I run S@H because I know it is as close to helping in such a wonderful research program. Also because like all those involved in this project I want to learn as much as I can about space and all that it has to offer. I think the SETI team is a very important part of Space exploration. For me personally it is a privilege and a honor to have S@H running on my computer to help with the SETI team.
