| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
Why do you run SETI@home?
I run Seti@Home because of the one-in-a-quadrillion chance that I may find something. As Muldaur would say, "I want to believe." I, too, feel that way, however as each day passes in which Seti@Home finds nothing, I am more prone to believe that we may just be alone. I find the project worthwhile since, hopefully, there is someone out there. But again, I have begun to doubt it.
Thoughts about ETI
As I said above, "I want to believe". Will we discover "them"? I feel this is incredibly doubtful. Why? Unless there is a way for "them" to reach or exceed the speed of light, due to the distances involved, we will never learn of their existence. If "they" exist at all.
We can transmit our signal, but because of the distances involved, there is virtually no chance it will be intercepted by any life-form within our lifetimes.
