Profile: Richard Whitehurst

Personal background
The name's Rich Whitehurst from Stoke-on-Trent, England. I'm 30yrs old with a wonderful family consisting on the wife Tara, and my kids Charlie and Daisy.

Not too much to tell just your average bloke living in the real world.

I enjoy cycling, football and F1 racing. Spending time with the family and my movies, i'm a massive film buff (except the really horror stuff..boring), love superhero and sci-fi films.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I decided to run SETI@home as i always said if I came into a large sum of money i'd love to make a difference in the world, especially in terms of space exploration and/or our knowledge of it. Due to the fact I'm no scientist or physicist and the money has yet to come (if it ever does) I decided that I can make a minor contribution to something practical with what means I have...So here I am.

We're not well off, we live on the breadline most of the time, but my 3 year old laptop is going strong and I believe is making a difference and will continue to do so till it's replaced. At the very least it's doing something practical other than going on Ebay and Facebook.

Wouldn't it be a huge boost though if it was actually SETI@home that found something, something that changed our planets perception forever...it would be well, life changing.
