Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Extra Terrestrial life MUST exist. It would be too concieted of the Human Race to think otherwise.
2. There is no reason I can think of to prevent a beacon being installed. We just need to remember that cosmic distances are vast and that it would be MANY centuries/millennia most likely before we would get a response. Also, the power output would necessarily need to be greater than anything we have built before. Additionally we would need to create an omnidirectional beacon which would not interfere with our own domestic and near space communications.
3. I run SETI@home on both my home PC and my work PC because I believe that it is a small way that I can contribute to the knowledge owned by the Human Race.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
