My name is Mark and I live in Calgary, Alberta. I am a student here at Mount Royal College. I enjoy playing computer games, watching television and movies (especially sci-fi). I really like Star Trek and am looking forward to the next series Enterprise.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Since I take part in SETI@home its pretty obvious that I think there is other life out there. However I don't think humans will ever meet up with it in my lifetime. I find it more likely that when humans do discover other life our "first contact" will be through the receiving or sending of radio or other transmissions. I also feel that the human race is not ready for such a lifechanging event as contact with another intelligence. If we can't get along with ourselves how are we going to get along with someone from another planet. I do feel that someday we will be able to get along with each other; just as long as we don't blow ourselves to pieces on the way there.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
