Extraterrestrial life exist of course there is no question about it. The odds are too high for life not to exist elsewhere in our universe and even in our own galaxy.
We should send some kind of signal out there to make ourselves visible to others no matter what the result should be.
I try to give as much time of my CPU to this project because, even if the scope is very limited of this project, because there is nothing else (afficially) in the world going on.
