Personal background
Originally from London, but now out in Buckinghamshire, UK.

I’m in the business of “Complex Display Systems” which is a niche sector of the Audio Visual market. Essentially, I work with displays for Flight Simulation, Formula 1 simulation, Planetariums, Theme Park 3D rides, 3D cinema, 3D scientific research (Oil and Gas exploration, Molecular studies), and almost anything else that requires very large screens.

This work brings me into contact with some great Heavy GPU applications.

I started computing in 1981 with Clive Sinclair’s ZX81, which I built myself as I couldn’t afford the ready made one. Then move up onto the Tandy TRS-80, and splashed out for the powerful 48k RAM version, because it seemed much better than the 16k and 32k versions. I recall that when I purchased this, TANDY were running a competition in the UK for the best program that could use “all” 48K of memory…. I wonder if anyone these days could write a program to fit within 48K RAM???
From the Tandy, I progressed upwards to the BBC model B, plus I splashed out on the floppy disc options (Advanced user now!) along with the synthetic speech chip… Great fun! After that, I ventured into the world of PC’s with my first Intel 286 PC (Elonex) plus the optional maths co-processor, along with the more powerful EGA graphics card, at a phenomenal 640 x 350 and a full 4-bit 16 colours from an available pallet of 64 – This was much better than CGA graphics…

I must sound like a really old git now….

In my spare time, I like to... I like to.... Oh hang on.. I dont get spare time... :-(
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I’ve signed up with a few “worthwhile” projects, that have the aim to cure disease, solve climate related issues etc, plus SETI.

UPDATE - For the time being, I've switched over to SETI 100%. I think that we need ET to come and rescue this planet from the corrupt politicians and bankers.

The idea of discovering intelligent life out there fascinates me. Proving this would be a major dispeller of most religious concepts, which have been, and still are, the cause of most military conflicts on this planet.

So, my objectives are to assist with my PC idle time and make our fragile planet better for mankind…
