Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The SETI@HOME project is a very good idea as it is involving ordinary, everyday people of the world in the biggest scientific experiment ever conducted. I myself believe that E.T is out there but too far away for us to contact, The distance between Advanced Technological Civilization's in our galaxy is likley to be something like 244 Light Years! with the maths saying there are approximately 605,000 Advanced Civilization's in our galaxy. So the journey of radio signals would take about 500 years to get back to us here on earth by which time the people that sent it would be dead!
I don't belive that E.T would be dangerous if they were as advanced as us because Intelligence and Violence etc. do not really go together.
The reason that I run SETI@HOME is more than likely the same as most other people's reasons, The thought of you/me being one of the first people to help discover the first Extraterrestrial Intelligence.
