Profile: Pete

Personal background
Retired NASA engineer; worked at NASA Headquarters for 16 years until 2004. I have a PhD in Reliability Engineering from the University of Maryland. I have dabbled in amateur astronomy, amateur radio, and computing over the years. I've been a fan of science fiction since childhood. My earliest years were in the 1950s in New Jersey where I enjoyed numerous space programs on New York television, e.g., Tom Corbett, Space Patrol, Rocky Jones, etc. I believe I understand how the discovery of intelligent extraterrestrial life would be the most important discovery in human history and would be truly civilization-changing.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I want to be part of the possible discovery of intelligent extraterrestrial life.

2. It is the right thing to do.

3. Keep going.
