My name is Glenn T.
Born jan 1982 in Norway.
I spend most of my sparetime/freetime at my computer learning stuff.

My occupation:
I'm an automation engineer who used to work as an electrichian.
Some time ago I worked as an electrichian for the Norwegian Air-Force
at a NATO-base in Stavanger.
Resently I worked as an automation engineer for National Oilwell Varco.
Lately i've been looking into bio-tech, seemes like an exiting field.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
If we where to find Inteligent life on other planets or in space,
that would be great.
I believe that there is some kind of life out there other than what we currently know of on this planet.
But are they what we would consider inteligent?
Do they have the tecnology that we have?
Do they need tecnology? Do we?
We usually invent stuff to solve problems or to make some tasks easier or
to solve some problems created by the inventions that made the tasks easier
causing other problems we didn't have in the first place..
Our technology is our tools, its an extension of our abillitys to do stuff.

A man ones said:"Everything that can be invented has been invented."
Charles H. Duell, Commissioner, U.S. Patent Office, 1899

Our technology is mainly based on
mechanics, electronics, chemistry, sound and optics.
The ETs (if there are any), might have some other form
of technology that we coudn't be able to apprihend.
Or maybe they're just a bunch of cave-menn running around on a planet
millions of lightyears away, or maybe even billions, who knows.
They might not even have to use radio to comunicate over long distansess.
Or maybe they don't comunicate like us at all.
Maybe they comunicate with smell, chemically, or maybe through gravity
or some other wierd way.

It seemes a little far-fetched that we are ever going to see another race of
sentient beings in our lifetime, or if we're going to find life other places at all. The universe is a big place. :)

Maybe they would look at us as we look at bugs, or germs, or maybe even food.
No one knows.

BUT, if there is some other form of life out there at all, It would be
important for us to know that we're not alone.

If we find life somewhere in the universe, other than on this planet,
it would not be hard to imagine that the universe would be filled with life.
For the time being, untill we develop some kind of "super-lightspeed engine"
the most effective way to search for life, is trying to eavesdrop to any
radio transmision that might take place.
But not only radio, we should widen the spectrum.

Quote: "Is there anybody out there?"

---------------------------------------------------------

In the meantime we should put together a group of people to
prepare for the eventuality of alien visitors.
Incase there ever is someone that decides to stop by.
Cause we would probably not know about it, untill they reached earths orbit.

---------------------------------------------------------

- Would you consider a monky to be intelligent?

- How do bees comunicate?

- What is comunication?

...Think about it!
