Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe that ETI may exist, but I will say that it does or does not. I sort of think that we ought not to transmit anything. I would like to be aware of someone before they are aware of me as any new ETI we find will be one of these:
1. Indifferent (they'll ignore our signals)
2. Hostile (we'll be at their mercy if they can get to us)
3. Benevolent (they'll decide to help us out, but probably in many more ways than we really want them to such as government, resource management, etc.)

I run SETI@home because I hate to see computational potential wasted, and I don't really care about computing decimal places of PI. My work computer has a lot of idle time (no, not when I'm AT work =P). I run this at low priority so it will take over when my computer is not otherwise in use.
