Personal background
Background:
I am currently 27 years old, born and live in Tokyo, Japan. Since I do not have the place for a computer and was troubled, I am living alone by coming out of a parents' home and borrowing the room from an apartment.
Borrowing the room of a certain amount of width from center of Tokyo requires huge expense! It is always warm in my room. Because many computers to research and network servers are always continuing working. Of course, for SETI@Home, too. Although heating is not needed in winter, since an air-conditioner is used in summer for cooling, remarkable electricity is consumed every season. The electricity bill is every month as 50,000 yen (about 400 dollars).

Interests:
I am a doctor of engineering and am a chief research officer for a national security problem. An autonomous distribution cooperation system is my elated field. My hobbies are drawing a picture, writing music, programming, driving, traveling and so on. I sell my illustrations in comic market 'COMIKE' twice a year. The most favorite is Amateur Radio communications. I'm on 6m band, SSB mode. Call sign is JO3KPS. I often go to a distance by the car to drive at a weekend to sightseeing and to have outdoor amateur radio operations.
The hot spring in Japan "onsen" is very nice :-)

How did you find out about SETI@home?
I knew that it was popular among the personnel of my research organization using a nice screen-saver. I knew the details of the project in the mailing list. Performing it did not affect my computer at all. At first, I was using the "screen saver" version, but I changed to the efficient "command line version" immediately.
When I began SETI@Home, there is no group in my organization. Each staff was only performing. So, I found new group "U.N. NERV" with my staff of CPR team.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Outline:
Although I do not know whether the life object outside the earth is, there is no element which denies a possibility of being. By science, a basis is needed for affirming something. Similarly, a basis is needed when denying. We want to discover it early also one day, if an intellectual-earth outside life object exists. In order to check whether it is or not, it is necessary to continue searching.
Even if you think that it is not, it is a very required thing. Because, supposing it is, in case we do not perform a quick action in all meanings, we are. One important for me is not for tracing whether they exist. In order to watch rather whether they are or not, it is very important to always lengthen an antenna.
Supposing we discover them in a certain form and we send a message to them, we should tell them by top priority that there is no hostility.

Why do you run SETI@home?
As this is contribution which can be done simply to use the free time of a computer effectively. Although neither money nor the labor force can be offered, we the computer engineers want to do a charitable act by the method of carrying out them and being.
I think that this is a very suitable method.
