Personal background
Hello everyone! My name is Paul Rudholm. This is my second time using SETI. I am glad to be back using it again. There are many groups out there that I could have chosen but I decided to choose the "Jodie Foster" group because, yes, when I first watched the movie "Contact", I was intrigued by it and the movie gave me an inspiration for the Search for extraterrestrial intelligence. I am originally from Los Angeles, California, born and raised, but now live in Anchorage, Alaska since 1986. I was born in 1961, grew up in a bedroom community outside of Los Angeles called Monterey Park. I graduated from Alhambra High School in 1980. In 1981, I went into the US Air Force, was stationed in what was then West Germany, now just Germany; (before the wall fell). Up until 1999, I held nothing but odd jobs mostly in Alaska. Then in 2000, I finally took a job with the State, DOT & Public Facilities, Alaska Marine Highway Division working on State Ferries that cater to communities that have no public road access in or out of those towns that are only accessible by either air or water. Much of Alaska is that way, where people live outside of the "Road Grid" as I call it. Sometimes it makes me wonder why Alaska is not used as much as it could be for space observation being that Alaska is sparely populated and that light pollution is at a minimum.

I once had a pipe dream to work on top of a mountain at an observatory as an astronomer. I wanted so much to be a part of a SETI group no matter where in the world that endeavor would have taken me! When I watched Contact with Jodie Foster, I remember saying to myself 'wow, I want her job'! The only regret I have in life is not pursuing that endeavor when I was younger. I guess it's never too late to start something either!

My hobbies include: going out and watching Sci-Fi movies, coin collecting, reading about the latest developments in space technology, IE., Astronomy Magazine, Sky & Telescope among others. I also love going on long extended road trips out into the wilderness on a clear night and gaze at the heavens; pondering what is "out there"! Well folks I am signing off for now and I may come back and add more to this later, but for now, I thought I would make my introduction brief and to the point. Take care and happy SETI hunting! Good bye.
