Personal background
I am an electrical technician working in mission critical power who is a computer enthusiast and an unrepentant nerd.

Um... I tend to not know what to say after I say I'm a technician. My hobbies include fixing things (see technician above), cooking, tinkering with computers, playing videogames, Pencil and paper role playing games, and spending time with the missus and my cat.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that this project and the technology spinning off from it (distributed computing) is very important. It stands to reason that if life happened once, it happened again. Searching for technological signs of it elsewhere is just the sort of overly ambitious crazy project I can really get into. It's a win/super win. If we never find anything then have the win of proving the power of distributed computing and we reap the benefits that will certainly follow that and if we do find something...
