Rejoined after an 8 year absence from SETI@Home (although I could have sworn it was 10, aka, pre-Y2K).
As part of a 3 week hardware trial, I figured S@H would be a neat way to help stress test a Netbook over 3G, ya know, crunching WU's 24*7 in-and-around town, wilderness, traffic, events, and flying cross country. S@H kept the device nicely pegged while I then undertook additional more credible mobile computing scenarios :-) It did admirably well, over 2.5 quadrillion arithmetic operations for S@H in 21 days.
That particular Netbook (Dell 1010 Atom z520 under Win7 RC w/T-Mobile 3G running Lunatics optimized SSSE3) had to be surrendered after the study, but I was so impressed with how far the Seti distributed computing project had come (S@H, and Boinc), that now all my home machines are enlisted. |

| Might Gallactic Law forbid eavesdropping? ;-) Albeit, there is probably a built-in restraining order of a few dozen light years grata signal dissipation, absorbtion, and shifting, but great to be a worker ant helping in the search anyhow. |
