Profile: Mandy Vuolo

Personal background
Hi, I'm Mandy. My husband and I recently moved to New York. I only just started running SETI@home. I have to admit, I thought it'd be more complicated than it was. I'm not very computer savy, but I didn't even need to bug my husband for help (believe me, that's impressive).

It may sound a bit dorky, but I grew up watching Star Trek with my dad. My interest in space and the possibility of life elsewhere began at a very early age. My dad used to set up his telescope every now and then (much to my sister's distain) and we'd stay out for hours in the freezing cold, warmed by the distant starlight and our ever burning questions about the universe. As I grew up (well, got older, I should say), I held onto my curiosity about space, extraterrestrial life, and the possibilities the universe holds. It'd be really amazing to find some answers. I only hope we find them within my lifetime.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Why wouldn't I run SETI@home? It doesn't require much from me or my computer and it's helping to further explore our Universe. I think that's a wonderful thing. I'm glad so many people are willing to help. Why wouldn't you want to know who or what is "out there?"
