Personal background
I work for the University of Washington, Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity as a Physics Instructor, Web Master/Instructor, and Computer Lab Supervisor. My hobbies are reading (especially Scifi), photography, computers, etc. My 50+ years of life haven't been perfect but for the most part I like where I am now. I guess I learned from my mistakes after all.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
When I think about the size of the universe, it seems unlikely that life is unique to one planet. The best thing that SETI might do is to supply us with evidence that we are not alone. I do not think however, that we have ever been visited by other intelligences mostly because travel between the stars would take too long at sub-light speeds.
