that's my machine. in a related matter, hello from me!
i am a designer for flying toys, and i really do hope you find someone out there soon!
(without considerable influence of alien technology it will be virtually impossible to make toys that are actually fun enough to classify for the termas soon as all the new only slightly paranoid safety regulations are in effect.)

if i'm not at work, i like to be outside, but only for either getting drunk and listening to really loud music or piloting something with a remote control.
the rest of my time goes mainly into repairing or upgrading aforementioned remote controlled models. there are some planes (a man needs to be able to fly), a small indoor heli (the lama still rules! go bell!), offroad buggys (work in progress), and a racing tank. yeeeah, thats fun. get stuck nowhere, and be quick about it.

you can read about it here. it's german, but you can scroll through and get a look at the pictures.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
the machine is intended for gaming, but of course also used for many things like cad/cam, vector graphics, surfing or communication - which leaves much cpu power to spare. i already knew about seti from web comics and tv, and when i learned that you could actually do work here for you over there i just had to try it. new tech is so cool.

especially the thought of a piece of berkeley right next to me is quite fascinating. not only because it is again another example of our beloved (due to inevitability) globalization, but because it puts another meaning in "home schooling": imagine some kind of education where live classes can be held in suitable locations, and the students use their own, private cpus to relieve the school's main system, thus paying for the education.
it's kind of a bring-your-own-book-then-it's-free thing, i guess. :)
