Personal background
Well, I'm from Portland, Oregon originally...since then I've been all over...I currently do emotional support for Verizon DSL...I enjoy it. I first became interested in extraterrestrial life as a child. I read...ALOT...I truely believe that there is other life out there...I mean there are more galaxies in the universe then there are grains of sand on the Earth...even if intelligent life on this planet is merely chaos coming from chaos it HAS to have happened else where...I believe they have been here before, hence the amazing scientific knowledge of our ancient forebearers on the cosmos. That knowledge only left us when organized religion stated it could not be possible because some invisible man said we were the only ones...So far as that goes I don't intend on discussing religion here.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes, I think extraterrestrial life does indeed exist, I think they have visited us before and will do so again at some point in the future, however I also believe this bodes badly for humanity ever seeing them...When last they visited we were in balance with the world that nurtured us and these 'gods' taught us to remain so however, with the rise of patrachial religion we have deviated from the teachings that only make so much sense...our planet can only support so many and as it is we are FAR above that number, not to mention that our endless quest for 'progress' has destroyed much of the worlds ecosystems, with several thousand species we will never see again and three dying out entirely each day we run the risk...an almost certainty of completely destroying the world which nurtures us.

Yes, we should transmit information, if we are looking for other's you can be sure they are looking for us. Something simple, like a greeting, an announcement of our prescense is all that would be needed.

I run SETI@home because I feel the project carries great hope of finding answers.
