Profile: Blind Bat in the Dark

Personal background
Hello, I'm a 35 year old Process Control Engineer living in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I'm writing this as the spring season is really showing its leaves and flowers, and the late season 40 cm snow fall-blizzard has finally melted away. Hiking in the nearby Rocky Mountain range is still a long way off though. *sigh* I was married to Corinne Mullan in the spring as well (May 99) in the Rocky Mountains at the Banff Springs Hotel. Oops, just noticed a theme of 'spring' and 'Rocky Mountains', hmmmm..., must be the cabin fever. (^_^) I'll have to ask Corinne if she is interested in a hike this weekend...
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I started running SET@home while getting my Master's degree after reading about it in some science article or other. I really believe the massive distributed computing nature of SETI@home is a sign of things to come in this increasingly highly computer connected world. Why waste CPU cycles? Since I leave my computer on all the time for other reasons, I consider running SETI@home 'eco-friendly'. I run SETI@home, versus some other program, because it supports a non-commercial scientific endeavor. Besides, it's cool looking for ET, and the SETI@home website is very informative.
