Profile: Tasdavil

Personal background
My name's David. I come from the island state of Tasmania, just below mainland Australia. We have heaps of varied wildlife here. One such animal you should all be familiar with is the Tasmanian Devil.

I've had experience as a multimedia designer. Computers have always been a hobby of mine ever since I was a little boy. I also love listening to many forms of music from Hip Hop to House to classic rock.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I belive that extraterrestrial life probably does exist somewhere out there. The universe is so vast, it would be surprising if it didn't. I believe that life here on Earth is proof that life can exist in the universe. So in a universe as vast as this, chances are it will also exist elsewhere.

Other life could be of huge benifit to our society. And it could just as easily be a great danger to our society. Either way, we need to be as informed as possible.

Although very dangerous, I believe we should be sending a beacon as well as searching. Because if every race among the universe believes it's safer not to send any information, then what is the point of searching for one?

I run SETI@home because I want to make a difference, even if it's small, to society as a whole. I think this project is very important because funding for this sort of project is hard to come by and SETI@home gives a very cheap and extremely powerful tool to help this sort of research.
