Personal background
Computer: It is an HP system with an Intel 2.8 processor and 1.5 Gb DDR ram.
update 10/10/04 - second computer is an old AMD 2000 with 512 Mb DDR ram.

I am male, 54 yrs and living in Las Vegas, Nv. I am a Medical Technologist working in a 500 bed hospital. Also I actually like my job.

My hobbies are playing with this computer and rebuilding it myself. I also have two cats who spend as much time in front of this thing as I do.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that Seti@home is absolutely fantastic. It is a great way to do the research that the government is too stupid to fund.

I don't know if we will ever make contact with ET or not -- but I sure hope so.
We have been transmitting a beacon since the first radio broadcast and by all means must continue to transmit a beacon -- "here we are, talk to us". I feel that the biggest danger to contact with other life is the blow to the egos of those who think we are the sine qua non of life.

Suggestion = if a user ends up with several accounts due to changes in their service or due to a system error, it would be nice if there were a way to combine the accounts. I have 2 because of problems encountered when trying to log on with a new email address.

Keep up the good work.
