Personal background
Born and raised in California, I come from a family of engineers and scientists, myself holding a degree in Computer Science - training for an analytical and somewhat skeptical mind.

I ran across this project about 4 years ago and found it interesting from a cooperative computing standpoint. Popular culture and television since the H.G. Well "War of the Worlds" has captured my imagination, my favorite having been the Star Trek and X-files TV series.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think extraterrestrial life must exist - we should not be so arrogant to assume we are alone. A study of our own human history of civilization and conquest would make a strong case that it is also dangerous to assume we are alone. I'm not suggesting that we are looking for a fight, just to be ready for one - a healthy sense of paranoia.

I've come to believe that we have been visited and observed. Recent revelations would also indicate the possibility that the highest levels of world governments and secret labs are investigating recoveries and planning social engineering to prepare us to accept what must be true - but perhaps not in my lifetime.

I don't believe we should be specifically broadcasting signals. The small spacecraft we've sent out with messaged have captured the imagination of the world, but in reality would probably never be found.

I see SETI as an underfunded and low probability project, though the science advances by the infant steps of SETI are required to reach the greater levels. For this I give my support.
