Personal background |
I am a retired Air Traffic Controller in Maryland who remembers standing in the back yard with her father and watching the Sputnik cross the night sky -- the star that moved. I remember everyone's ears glued to their radios when John Glenn travelled aboard the Friendship 7.
I enjoy my retirement immensely, and have played online games like EQ, EQ2 and WoW for many years -- but enjoy them more now that playing doesn't equal lost sleep! I scour the Internet for news less biased than what I find on television or in the local newspapers. I enjoy travel, although it's tough to afford. I enjoy reading a lot, and am slowly working my way through some classes at the local community college in areas in which I feel my knowledge is severely lacking. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I was delighted to find that I could run SETI@home on my laptop while the lid was closed! Who knew? lol I play games on two larger more powerful computers downstairs, so hopefully I'll be able to run this laptop almost all of the time. I will likely run one or more other projects at the same time as SETI -- there seem to be so many worthwhile opportunities to contribute.
I don't expect any ground-breaking discoveries to occur during my lifetime, but I do believe that negative information is just as important as the positive, discovery sort. I am pleased to participate in this small way to the continuing growth of human knowledge. |
