Personal background
G-day, my name is Ben and im 20 years old and i live in Australia, i finished my HSC (Higher School Certificate) 2 years ago, subject's i studied included Chemistry, Physics, Maths, English, History and Computing. I just joined the Army as a Soldier and Eventually hope to make it into the Australian SAS (special Forces).
My hobbies include Rocketry (making my own rockets and fuels), computers, Being outdoors (camping, hiking etc) adrenalin sports (sky diving, skirmish) and the one i find most fascinating is science, astronomy, astrophysics, all the studies that revolve in and around space, wormholes, relativity, other galaxies and ESPECIALLY other life!

Im also a huge fan of the Stargate series :o)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do think that extraterrestrial life does exists, i mean it would be ashame if we were the only ones alive out of all this space!
A handfull of sand contains 1,000,000 grains,
1000 handfulls is 1 Billion,
there are 100Billion stars within our individual galaxy,
and there are at least 50 Billion galaxies in the universe,
there are more stars in the universe than there are grains of sand on every beach on Earth! - this came from the TV doccumentary "PLANETS"
our own sun is a star itself, so with this many other stars out there that could harbour life, the chances are greatly in favour of us not being alone, and i do believe reading that our solar system is one of the youngest around so most other solar systems would of had alot longer to evolve. We can only really say that we have been evolving technologically for about the last 200 years, so if there is life it must be VERY inteligent if it did evolve before us.
I think i can safley assume that there are other races out there looking for other life just as we are, but remember the universe is a BIG place.
There is always the possibility that other life forms could be hostile but i think that a race that has managed interstellar travel would be smart and "Advanced" enough, to not come looking for a fight.
I Discovered SETI and i thought it was Cool to be able to download data and process it , i think it would be awsome if they made Software you could purchase on CD and help do Alot more detailed help and data processing, the addition of the user to be able to hear the sounds as they were processed would be a great privlige as well, well we will see what the future holds.
If you want to inform, discuss anything with me you can email me at Benji_24_7@hotmail.com, just remember i dont have a PHD in quantum physics, hehe, but i am willing to learn and i hope to one day become a scientist in the field of space research, development and discovery,
who knows i may even end up working for SETI themselves.
