Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think it's pretty conceited of most people to think that we are the only sentient life in this universe.

Due to the vast distances of space, other forms of life could have been born, run their course of life, and become extinct, long before any evidence ever reached here.

I think we should transmit a beacon, the problem with that is basic. We could send it out for millions of years, and it would only reach so far in that amount of time. Whatever we start now, will likely never reach anything in 100 generation's liftime.

Basically, I run the software because I can, I have the resources, and I feel that of all the different "programs" that harness unused processes, this is the most honorable use. Mostly due to the fact that very little of it is self serving. It's not harnessing process to see if someone can crack an encription code so that someone else can profit from its success. This is something that needs to be done, and I'm happy to help in what small ways I can.

I Currently have 2 computers running the software, soon to be three when I get my Linux box back up.
