Profile: Prickly Angel

Personal background
I am in my 40's and have an incredibly bright and well-mannered young daughter called Holly -- hence the choice of nickname. While she is at school, I work from home; and while I am idle, my laptop does some data-processing in the name of science. Both me and my computer stand some chance of improving the future prospects of my brilliant daughter, perhaps her friends, or perhaps the children of some stranger somewhere else in the world...does it matter who? (As long as something is done!)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Discovering whether or not we are alone as an intelligent species capable of communicating across the space-time continuum with another one (or more) is potentially the most important discovery to such intelligence in the universe. Wouldn't it be a shame if we did nothing to find out?
