My name is Tom . I'm a retired electrician from the Hamilton Hydro , a retired Matloe from the WWII RCN and an octogenarian enjoying some golden years . In the summer or when the weather permits Golfing is a hobby . In winter when the local arenas put the ice in I join my grey headed compatriots , twice a week , in a casual hockey game called Shinny . Jean and I have four daughters complete with sons-in-law and ten grand children all of whom insure us of an active and worthwhile old age .
I've always been haunted by the one line science fiction story " The last man on earth sat alone in a room , there was a knock on the door ." This master author I don't know but the imaginitive scenarios it sumons up are endless and so I anxiously await the coming of ETI with what time is left . This is what caused me to join SETI@HOME .
It is only a matter of time and my only wish when contact is finally made is that we will demonstrate humanity and not react confrontationally .
