Personal background
...Well I think I´m quite ordinaty, perhaps the next generation Computer "geek", I use plenty of time playing online games, and thats why i have not completed as many "Units of Exploration" as i would have liked to.
But now...I have 1 gigs of Ram and The Fastest CPU on the market, meaning i can run games and mirc and SETI in the background working full power without as much as a glitch or complaint from my CPU, on an Average i now complete a unit in Aprox. 5 hours, and when i get Adsl the 15th of may, i will pump out 5 Units (almost) a day.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. How big is the Universe? How many Galaxies exist? If you look at those two questions wouldnt you then consider it a bit "blind" if we where the only life form in the entire Universe?
The benefits are perhaps many and yet perhaps few as we do not know whom we might meet, we might meet another race so advanced that we can finally rid the earth of polution and chopping our trees, cooling our earth (unless this in an intentional heat our mother earth is making) and create paper etc. out of air(a bit extreme perhaps).

How we will discover it? I) dont think WE will discover it, i think they will discover us :), and when they think we are ready they will make the final contact.

The Dangers? I dont know, "The Wise" say that because of extreme intelligence or theyre way of life would hardly cause them to start a war, but who are to say they wouldnt? And god bless us if they do!

2.Transmit a beacon? Yes Try PLZ!

What information we should send? Dont show nothing but peace and "we can fight to the last if you guys have an attitude problem agaisnt our existence".

Why I run SETI? Well, I surpose im an optimist :), and why not help while my computer is running anyway without a glitch even tho i run so many background jobs? I say if doesnt harm you to run it, maybe helping our world in one way or the other then WHY NOT? Start doing something, so that when you grow old you can say "I helped looking for ET, and guess what... we found him" :)
