Personal background |
My name is Jonathan Landrum, but my online persona is Lt. Commander Spock, and my handle is jonlandrum. I have been interested in Star Trek since I saw the Reading Rainbow episode where LeVar Burton takes the viewer on a tour of the ST:TNG set, and introduces his character, Geordi La Forge ("Behind the Scenes of Star Trek: TNG" originally aired Monday, August 15th, 1988).
I am a born again Christian. I have participated in numerous overseas missions, the longest of which (so far) lasted 109 days. I am a Group Commander in the Royal Rangers program at my church. And I play Bass Guitar on our praise and worship team on Wednesday nights.
I have a website where I write about my experiences as a missionary and upload photos from my journeys: jonlandrum.com. I've owned this domain since September 8th, 2004. Prior to that, I owned the now-defunct channel180news.com. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I began running SETI@home because I want to contribute to finding extra-terrestrial life and opening the lines of communication with them. And I was especially pleased to find the group Christian StarFleet Command, given my love affair with Star Trek and my life mission to reach people for Christ.
I initially used my spare floating point operations for Rosetta@home, but never was able to get myself really motivated for that project. So I have now dedicated all my unused cycles to this project, in the hopes that I can someday say, "I helped contact them."
