Profile: Leaps-from-Shadows

Personal background
Description
I'm a thirty-something guy from the Land of 10,000 Lakes in the good ol' Yew Ess of Ay. I work as a tech support specialist in the IT field.

Hobbies
Roleplaying games (the group activity pen and paper kind - not on the computer), reading books (mainly sci-fi, military, and spy/espionage with some mysteries sprinkled in), PS3 gaming, watching all kinds of TV shows I've recorded with my DVR.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Why run SETI@home?
I bought a shiny new Gateway GT5692 computer in August 2008, and it's got plenty of free CPU cycles that are just begging to be used ... so I figured, why not?

I have since upgraded my system from a triple core CPU to a faster quad core, and I run the optimized applications for Multibeam and Astropulse.

My machine crunches for the SETI@home and SETI@home Beta projects only.

Views about the project?
There have to be other intelligent life forms out there somewhere. It would be cool to be part of the project that discovers them.
