Profile: Jonathan Mantle

Personal background
HI there! My name is Jonathan and I am from the United Kingdom (more precisely south Wales). I am a Christian and have been now for about twelve years. I am very committed to my church and participate in many events there.

My hobbies include playing the saxophone, Reading, writing, science, history, business studies, economics, computers and Karate. I have been playing he saxophone for ten years and have been doing Karate for just over two years and am currently a brown belt.

I work in a homeless shelter and try to get homeless people back into a home and get them to address their issues as well. Its great work but the night shifts suck big time.

I am also Dyslexic. If some of my e mails are badly spelled then forgive me!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have to be honest from the get go I do not think that there are aliens out there. Seriously (However I am not closed minded. If you can convince me that there are then please send me an email and some evidence as well. I am more than willing to talk to you). So why did I join up to this project? Simple I find the search for them fascinating and work that you do interests me as well. The science of examining the frequency of the electromagnetic spectrum is interesting. If the research can at least shed some light on what is happening in the universe (such as what is creating the electromagnetic frequencies) OR prove or disprove alien life then great. I am more than willing to talk to anyone about alien life forms and my opinions (I like to think of myself as a sceptic but hell who knows?)

I think this project is brilliant and the way in which is done is great. I think that sending the data to be processed on machines al around the world a major break thought for scientific work! What better way of doing research project so big than to break it down for everyone to have a piece.

The thing that I would like to see more than anything else here is more link to other alien web sites and more science of what is happening and also constant updates of what the research is showing and what are the new directions the research is showing as well.
