Personal background
Found in a reed boat on the shores of the Wisconsin River amongst the acidic foam of industrial waste from the string of paper mills that control the entire fall of that once beautiful river. My home was a hovel built by my grandfather - the town of Wisconsin Rapids' only surgon.

Fate destined me to the computer field as my family history in the field traces back to 1901 when my grandmother was a keypunch operator for Sears in Chicago - Over 100 years of family history in computing - unless your family name is Babbage, you probably can't match it.

I now serve as a faculty at several Seattle area colleges. My area of specialty is Wide Area Networking.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
There is no doubt that other life forms exist elsewhere in the universe.

The probability of them being humanoid is fairly remote due to the vagaries of evolutionary development - besides, they may not have had the benefit of Arthur C Clark's nudge from the black oblisk.
