I do think it exists, but seeing is believing.
I think they will make contact with us. Somewhere another civilization has to be trying the same things, and will be more advanced/able to make contact back.
The benefits? Well, I've seen Independance Day, and Men in Black. It could be harmonious, or disasterous. Only time will tell.
We should most definately have a signal of some sort to let everyone know we are here, or where to go. How would ships at sea have faired without lighthouses leading the way home?
I run SETI because I have nothing better to do with my computer while it's idle. :) |
