Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
At the age of seven, ever since watching Neil Armstrong walk on the moon I have been fascinated with space and space exploration. When I started reading books, it was Sci-fi. When I found out about SETI@Home, I thought "WOW! I can help in the exploration of space myself!" And now, in 2008, I find myself back again to help SETI in the exploration of space. Personally, I think there are extraterrestrial intelligences out there. As big as the universe is, with an estimated 100+ billion stars in the Milky Way Galaxy alone, and the fact that as of 1999, the Hubble Space Telescope Group estimates that there are at least 125 billion galaxies...you do the math! To assume we are alone in the universe would be ludicrous. We are most likely not alone in our own galaxy. And finding them is just a matter of time. Any small way I can help in that endeavor is worth while and the very least I can do!
