Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that the confirmation of the existence of other civilisations in our galaxy would be the most influencial discovery in the history of the human race. It will open up so many new philosophies about life and technology, and will encourage people to take more of an interest in space exploration. Also there will have to be a more serious open discussion about previous contacts and visits not only in recent times but in our ancient history, finally silencing closed-minded skeptics who dismiss any talk of aliens as pure fantasy.
