I live in Stockholm, Sweden, working as a PhD student in astrophysics. Currently
I am involved in a project investigating the distribution of the molecular gas
in M83, a nearby barred spiral galaxy using the radio telescope
SEST.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
There are so many stars out there that existence of extraterrestrial life is
certain. Weather humans will discover it or not is a completely different
story. The majority of the worlds will of course be too far away (e.g.
extragalactic) to communicate with it and nearby life that have reached the
level of scientific development where they start emitting radio waves are
rare. Radio waves are by the way without doubt the most promising way to find
extragalactic civilizations.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
