Personal background
I live in New England. I am a mother of 3 kids and a former computer sys admin. For Hobbies I like to do anything that will give the FBI something to fret about; like running SETI. I think far too many people worry about far too much. I love art and anything art related. I make stained glass objects, I write poetry and I take my kids to the museums as often as possible. My oldest has the same love of science as I do. I think that people need to be open minded about space and what space holds in store for us. There is always something gained through exploration even if life is not found maybe a new star will be. So, dream and be free to dream. Let the mind wonder through time and space.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Does life exist beyond us...Well, I hate to think that we are alone because we are so imperfect as a race. Douglas Adams once wrote "We should have never left the oceans" I believe that at some form life exists and I hope that we don't find life and then commit gennocide out of fear.

Should we transmit a beacon....well that is a loaded question yes and then a resounded no. I fear that our government is to afraid to allow communication with E.T.. They would destroy it with out asking questions but then again, if they (E.T.) can get here I suppose they will have a way of destroying our weapons too. So, I hope we find them and I hope that the people of earth find out before the government through the net it might be possible. I think pictures sent as 0's and 1's would be the most peaceful images to send rather than T.V. shows and that music is a universal form of communication.

I run SETI at home to help with the search for E.T. and to bother the FBI. I run SETI on two systems at present, hopefully adding a third in the not too distant future.

The only suggestion I have is to make it a windows feature and Maybe Bill could add it to his code so that any one connected to the net will help in the search.
But, then again SunOs is the better oS so maybe they could add it to thier code. And, or, Mandrake RedHat and Caldera. If it is built in there will be no need to download it and the more the merrier.
