One of the original SETI@home users. Have been off-line for a while. Wanted to re-start program now that I have a high-speed internet connection again. Missed this program.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I run SETI@home because I sincerely believe that there are other races "out there" which have technology that is more advanced than ours. Anyone who believes humans have the highest technology in the universe must be suffering from delusions of grandeur.
2. I believe that the SETI@home program is a fascinating way to expand computing power without having to beg for grant money for faster and more powerful computers.
3. Keep up the good work. I was a member of the beta trial group of SETI@home when it first came out and had the program running for many years. I built a new computer and never downloaded the updated software. Am glad I remembered now that I have a faster connection again.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
