Given the facts that chemistry and physics (at least in our known vicinity of planet, solar system and galaxy) are the same everywhere, I cannot imgine that life does not exist somewhere other than the Earth. This has been supported even further by evidence of planetary bodies around other stars and in the statistics of the shear number of stars/galaxys that exist.

It does bother me that we have not detected some signal so far, but then again, we may not think like other intelligent beings as far as science or communication methods - this has to be the focus of future detection programs. SETI is a good start and I wouldn't be helping if I thought it wasn't worth it, but we also need to expand our horizons to optical or other energy spectrum detection stratagies.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Why do you run SETI@home? - Well, it's a worthwhile, common-man, activity to try and get humans off this rock we live on now.

What are your views about the project?- Tons better than killing off other people like humans are prone to do. It's more life affirming rather than destroying.
