Personal background
I'm just a guy with too much spare, unused computer time.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I heard about the project years ago, but only started in April 2007, when I read about it again in a Science book. I figured that rather then just letting my computer's unused power go to waste, I could use it to find alien life. SETI@Home is great; you know that when you are not using your computer, it is hunting for alien life, and you get an interesting screen saver as well, it's a win-win situation, (unless of course, you discover the borg...).

My guess though is that aliens may have already found us, through the television and radio signals we send out into space, but they're probably avoiding us, because they don't understand what kind of species would watch daytime TV. So we'll just have to find them and explain the joys of watching endless repeats on a small box.
