Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do I think extraterrestrial life exists? Yes. We can see only a small fraction of the universe, and in that fraction there are 100 billion galaxys, and those galaxys have 100 billion stars. If life were not to exist anywhere else, well face it, it would suck. Besides, wouldn't it be cooler this way?

Do I ever think humans will discover life elsewhere? No. Although this searching for radio signals is great, how do we even know E.T. will use radio signals to communicate? What is our definition of life? What if they were on a planet with an obscured atmosphere, and had no knowledge of the outside world? What if they didn't have that spirit to explore, learn and push their limits as a race? Will we even recognise life when we see it? There are just too many variables to compute, too many possibilities.

You are probably wondering why I use SETI@home then. Well, there is always that minute chance, that one in ten trillion that we will find a signal, and if we did it would be worth it all. We are not alone for sure, but what are our interstellar neighbors, and would we recognise them if we saw them?
