Personal background
I am 16 y/o and quite possibly the biggest computer geek within a 20 mile radius from any given point I have ever stood. Geek, not being derogatory, but being darn proud of it! Everything I know regarding computers has been self taught be reading every bit of computer material I can get my hands on. I am fluent in Batch, HTML, Java-Script, Java, C and I am shooting for Bash scripting sometime soon. It is rather amusing I am fluent in all of these languages and I would be at a 2nd grade spelling level without my beloved spell check!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
A new photo was released just last week (Currently March 15, 2004) which the Hubble Space Telescope had taken over a one month span compiled from several shots of the exact point in space. It was simply mind blowing and I wish I had the link for it but I unfortunately do no. In this 6000 x 6000 pixel, 65meg jpeg, there were estimated to be over 1000 galaxies pictured. Some of these being nothing more than white pin points, others being beautiful spirals of color. After seeing this picture I realized how little thought I have ever given to the existence of E.T. life. Well, that picture made it seem next to impossible that a single degree of space containing well over 1000 galaxies could not contain any other life. Now I assume there has to be something/someone else out there and I will do my best to find out. Due to my age limiting my options I choose to run Seti@Home on 3 Linux servers, my Windows PC and my family’s computers as well. This seems the best I can do as of now, but I'll always be looking for more ways to find those same things that may be trying to find us!
