Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I run SETI@home because I have this gut feeling that the answers to our questions about our own, and continued, existence is out there in the cosmos somewhere. Whether it'll be in the form of purely scientific discoveries here on earth and or with the continuing expansion of space technology or or in establishing contact with E.T.'s (which is SETI's goal) nobody knows. Only time will tell. SETI@home is the only way from my point of view to contribute in any way towards either said, and many other, possibilities.

2. Whether or not E.T.'s exist or not, I don't truly believe that SETI will ever find any. If there is another intelligent species out there capable of sending messages throughout space, it would be highly likely that based on the short time we've had this technology, they must be far more advance then us. In this event, they wouldn't need to be sending messages, instead I think they would already be aware of our existence and also implies that they would've visited us a long time ago, which very well may be the case. But I'm not ready to state my life on that opinion, so here I am.
