Since losing my wife a year ago, I am now utterly retired.
I was employed by Symantec as a Senior Technical Support Engineer, working in the Enterprise Group supporting email security for Microsoft Exchange. I provided high level support for online technicians, Systems Engineers, the Regional Offices and Symantec Partners worldwide. In addition I also served as a common interface to development, by presenting them with prioritized issues and defects for resolution, while assisting the regions in resolving critical customer issues. I am considered a product subject matter expert in Microsoft Exchange documenting solutions to known issues through Knowledge base documents, product training, and white paper authoring. Advocated customer requests, troubleshot and resolved complex, critical and sensitive support issues as well as participated in conference call escalations to provide next level issue resolution for Gold/Platinum customers. Verified and duplicated customer issues. Prioritized open issues, define and track bugs for Development and offer innovative ideas to improve product quality. Participated in new product releases and beta cycles to ensure information and training requirements were met to support new products. Researched into a wide variety of technical subjects including operating systems, Symantec software, security and third party applications. Provide product training, workshops and technical mentoring to regional support groups. Provide on-call support for 24x7/Follow the Sun and MSS for Sev1 & Sev2 issues. Acted as liaison between Level 3 Development and Level 1 ACS, as well as the regional Level 2 Support Technicians. Supported pre and post product launch readiness activities.
I also have worked as a contract Software Test Engineer assigned to the System Center Configuration Manager (formerly Microsoft's Systems Management Server (SMS)) group testing the latest beta version of this application. This involves the setup and configuration of Microsoft's IIS, SQL 2005 SP1 Server, Windows Server Update Services, as well as Configuration Manager and its client UI software. Responsible for Wake on LAN, Internet Facing, and Roaming Profile testing and other testing as assigned. This position requires a substantial understanding of Microsoft architecture, hardware architecture and standards and networking technology, and their interaction with each other. It requires a background in Systems Engineering, Systems and Network Administration and Hardware Engineering. I am also responsible for writing and running test cases, and filing and retesting bug reports and buddy tests.
In 2005 I was on a contract at Intel as a CPU Debug Engineer. In debug we recreate failures noted by the testing lab. I determine if the problem was specific to the particular parts used in the original test, or if the problem is systemic to a particular motherboard, chipset, BIOS, CPU, OS, etc., and if the failure is fixable through updated drivers, BIOS, etc. This involves a full understanding of Intel architecture and its current classified development of their new dual core and hyper-threading processors, their interaction with various BIOS and Intel chipset schemes, all network and desktop operating systems (Microsoft, Linux, UNIX, etc.), as well most of the major office automation applications and home game applications currently on the market.

Project Manager for email migration from Lotus cc: Mail to Microsoft Exchange/Outlook 97 for 800 users for Occidental Chemical, email conversion 500 users from Novell GroupWise to Outlook 98 for Smith International, and Office 97 deployment for 7,200 facility users at Beverly Enterprises. Sole Beta tester and assisted in development (HTML, ASP, VB) of Xerox Connect's Internet deployment application DeployIT (certified). Developed RFP responses, Statement of Work, and Risk Management documentation.
Designed and developed deployment of system-wide cc:Mail upgrade, server and workstation virus protection upgrade, enterprise backup solution plan, and provided network administration planning and implementation, system upgrades, etc. for 1800 users at Halifax Health System in Dayton Beach, FL.
Senior System Engineer/Project Manager for a major health care system in South Texas. Responsible for all LAN administration, technical support services, etc. Supervised major hardware, operating system, and infrastructure upgrade and conversion for over 2,000 users. Setup and configured Microsoft Exchange and SMS servers. Developed new workstation configuration. Maintained all legacy main frame applications and security accounts.
Project Manager for computer conversion project involved with the acquisition of Glendale Federal Bank by Barnett Bank of Florida. Supervised 10 technicians installing 1,200 workstations and 34 OS/2 servers at conversion sites throughout South Florida over a 4-month period.

I would like it to be in my lifetime. Being in my 60's, it had better be soon.
