Personal background
I am retired from the Canadian Armed Forces after 35 years in the Communications Research trade. My wife has been a nurse for the past 25 years and works at the local hospital. I have an interest in astronomy (small 4.5inch Tasco on the back porch along with a set of 20 x 60 binos). We live on the south shore of Mississippi Lake with nice dark skys. (except for the odd neighbour with dusk till dawn driveway lights)(ought to be a law). I do quite a bit of photography with my Kodak DX6490 digital. So much easier than slides.
Still cant beat the old manual Pentax for astronomical photos. I was running SETI@home in the early 90's on my 486 Compact .. but let my account lapse when I ran into down/uploading problems. Finally got back into it when I saw a program on TV that reminded me about the project. I'm now using a 2.4Ghz Celeron running at 100% and hope to be able to stick with the project untill its successful conclusion.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. SETI@home is a very worthwhile project. We can't possibly be alone. I do what I can with this machine that I'm only using for an hour or so each day.

2. We will never know if we don't try. Its like the lottery -- the difference between buying a ticket and not buying a ticket improves your chance of winning by an infintismal amount.

3. As for suggestions: I don't think so.. There are obviously people far more intelligent than I am running this thing. Keep up the good work.
